The Waggrakine Primary School Canteen aka Super Food Headquarters, is wholly run by the P&C as a service to the school community. The canteen is self funding and not for profit. That is, it must cover its own costs, but does not make money from its operations. All food sold at the canteen comply with government regulations under the traffic light system.
Green (healthy) foods are offered every day and make up most of the menu. Amber (treat) foods can only be offered a maximum of twice a week. Red foods (with little nutritional value) are not offered. All canteen staff are trained in the Traffic Light System and the canteen complies fully with the healthy food policy of the Department. We are pleased to say that our canteen has a five star record on inspections from the Health Department.
To provide a service to the school community by providing nutritious foods at affordable prices.
The Waggrakine Primary School Canteen is run by the P&C and employs 2 staff members
We are extremely fortunate it is open 5 days a week at both break one and break two, offering a healthy range of foods to staff and students.
Canteen staff regularly undertake training to ensure they: are up to date with the WASCA Traffic Light System, comply with the school’s “Healthy Food and Drink Policy” as well as the City of Greater Geraldton Health and Hygiene regulations and have all successfully completed the “I’m Aware” Food Allergy Program. We are extremely proud that each year the canteen has been awarded a Five Star Food Safety Rating since the City of Greater Geraldton introduced the program for the past three years.
Volunteers are essential for the continued success of the Super Food Headquarters and if you can make a sandwich, you are well qualified to help out. Let the Canteen Staff know if you would like to help out.

Your canteen runs with only one staff member per day. Other roles need to be filled by volunteers. The more volunteers we have, the less time is required from each of us.
Volunteering in the canteen is not difficult. If you can make a sandwich, you are well qualified. If you prefer not to serve at the counter, you don’t have to. We have a roster at the canteen, so please drop by and add your name if you have an hour to spare. Your help is much appreciated.
We ask that parents support us in our efforts to encourage healthy food choices by providing healthy lunches from home and use lunch boxes to minimise plastics.
