This the first year of compulsory fulltime schooling. Our teachers provide exciting, enriching and safe learning environments for your child, ensuring that they are catering to all children as individuals. Our teachers use the WA curriculum to plan engaging lessons, utilising indoor and outdoor learning environments. We have a strong focus on oral language through play based learning to build life long skills and become successful life long learners. Our Pre Primary timetable follows that of the main school.

Parent/Guardian Help

We encourage parent help; this provides an opportunity for you to be involved in your child’s learning. We encourage you to volunteer as often as you can to support your child in their schooling. A roster will be displayed on the classroom noticeboard

Arriving and Departing

When you bring your child into the classroom, there will be a table top activity for your child to complete with your assistance if required. Once the activity has been completed then the child can be settled into a puzzle, book or another activity provided on the mat area for you to depart. As the year continues once your child is comfortable and independently completing the morning activity please allow them to do so independently. Students will be released at the end of the day to a parent/guardian or prearranged adult.

On Entry Assessment

On Entry is an assessment of literacy and numeracy learning and is used by our teachers to ensure all students are catered for. It is a mandated assessment by the Education Department for all Pre Primary Public School students. Our teacher’s complete the assessment during Weeks 3 to 6 of Term 1. You will receive a copy of your child’s report after all assessments have been completed.

Pre Primary Sports Day

While Pre Primary students come over to the main sports day for races and often join parents for the day, they have their own dedicated sports day. A fun day, a little shorter than the big school’s day, is a little more intimate and tailored to meeting the capacity of our younger students.

STEM

STEM sands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. All of the students in  P-6 will participate in STEM in some form or another. one of the PP projects recently had a big focus on STEM resulting in the class building Geraldton, a wonderful project enjoyed by many family members and showing the results of some very clever thinking all done by the students with little to no adult intervention in building their town.
