Aboriginal Community

Waggrakine has an Aboriginal Education Committee made up of both Aboriginal and Aboriginal staff who meet several times each term to support the implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. The commitee welcome and encourage community involvement and participation to support the development of cultural awareness, community partnerships and student learning .

NAIDOC

Each year the school celebrates NAIDOC and we have huge support from the local community, including GRAMS, Bundiyarra Language Centre, Clontarf Academy, Radio Mama, elders and the local community. If you would like to help us out and be involved please contact the school.

“We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Yamatji Peoples who are the Traditional Owners and First People of the land on which we stand. The Nhanhagardi, Wilunyu, Naaguja. We would like to pay my respect to the Elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of the Yamatji Peoples.” 

Reconciliation Action Plan

Waggrakine are one of the first schools to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan to assist enhance Relationships with our local community, increase Respect for Indigenous cultures and peoples and create Opportunities to enhance staff, students and community awareness and understandings of Aboriginal culture.
